BENEFICIARY STORIES
How funds raised
changed individual lives
ABEL'S STORY (APIDO)

Abel’s leg started swelling 20 years ago, which made walking, farming
and manual labour painful which consequently left him struggling to
support his wife and family. He was in severe pain for many years before hearing about the work of APIDO through community work they were doing.
Since receiving treatment with the help of APIDO, Abel has
become a role model for others suffering with podo.
He is now teaching others how to care for themselves and prevent the disease.
Abel wanted to say a big thank you for the help he has received –
“Before treatment, my daily life was full of struggles. I felt isolated
because people in my village did not understand my condition. Now, my
life has completely changed. I can farm, work, and support my family
again. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life.”
Powerful stuff, I think you will agree!
Please help us to continue being able to fund life changing projects such as that done by APIDO and other local partners.
Abebas story (SCWOP)
Many elders responsible for supporting their orphaned
grandchildren, like Abeba, aged 72, are living in poverty and already
face difficulties in meeting their own basic needs, let alone those of
their grandchildren.
She is a widow who, after her late husband’s
passing, had to beg on the street for her daily bread as she had
nothing to eat.
A friend of hers told her about the SCWOP
programme, and Abeba travelled to the Women and Children’s
Affairs office where she registered for support and was later
accepted.
Now, she is provided with monthly financial support,
medical and eye care, and new clothes once a year.
She has been successfully supported by SCWOP for 6 years.
Abeba wanted to say a big thank you to those who have supported SCWOP:
“This project is important for me, because it covers our
essential needs such as food from the markets, medicines and
new clothes. Our life has changed and now I have a better life.”
– We feel humbled to be able to support this often overlooked but vulnerable group, the elderly destitute and those who care for orphaned grandchildren whilst in desperate straits themselves.
Please help us to continue funding projects such as SCWOP who do such invaluable work saving lives like Abeba’s daily.
