The Team

The Teblez Mebrahtu Redeeming Light Foundation is a small family run funding body and charity (no. 1211097) based in the UK. It was set up to commemorate and honour the memory of a very special woman in our lives: beloved wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother Teblez Mebrahtu.

Throughout her life, Teblez was a dedicated and passionate follower of Christ who put her unshakeable Christian faith and compassion for others into action every day, despite living with a myriad of life-long health issues.

The Teblez Mebrahtu Redeeming Light Foundation was set up following her sad passing to her new heavenly home in October 2022, by her devoted husband Teame, her three daughters Aida, Esther and Zeb and her granddaughter Paris Harya.

We use family savings and personal income to donate grants to registered charities such as Ethiopiaid UK, Hospice Ethiopia UK and the Friends of Eritrea UK, who work with local partners in the developing world.

As the name suggests, the foundation aims to shine the redeeming light and love of Jesus Christ over those most in need by helping to sustain highly effective organisations already on the ground working alongside local NGOs to ensure maximum impact and effectiveness of agreed project goals.

Our mission

Our mission is to try to alleviate poverty and help those most in need in the world including the destitute and homeless. Thus following Jesus’ mandate to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Matthew 7:12)

We have a heart especially for under-served social groups such as the elderly and sick (who are very vulnerable with no means of other support in the developing world) as well as the disabled and street homeless.

We strive to feed and clothe them as well as fund medical interventions where needed, also aiming to providing mobility support and education for the disabled.

Our vision

Our vision is to try in our own small way to make the world a better place.

We believe that if each one of us follows Christ’s edict to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and look after the sick, we are demonstrating His ultimate compassion and love for His children.

“Then the Lord will reply ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Our story

We are a Christian family, who at our very core seek to embody Christ’s love and respect for all those whose lives we touch.

Our mother Teblez Mebrahtu instilled in us a deep love for our ever faithful and merciful God and taught us to demonstrate that love in our daily actions by seeking to bless others.

We ask for you to join us in our pursuit of a kinder and more Christ-like world by donating whatever you can and helping us to help those of His children who are most forgotten and burdened.

Our primary causes

We have a heart especially for under-served social groups such as the elderly and sick (who without pensions or access to medical and social care are very vulnerable with no means of other support in the developing world.)

We are also passionate about trying to help other under-served groups such as the disabled and their families who lack access to health care and also face stigma and isolation.

Those living in extreme poverty such as street children and the destitute are another cohort of people who we are aiming to help with basic needs such as food, clothing and other health care needs.
